The Challenge
Transmission remanufacturing is a complex business where profitability depends on controlling costs, managing cores and parts, maintaining consistent builds, and tracking the history of every unit.
Currently, there are no software solutions for the remanufacturing industry. Most larger facilities choose a manufacturing ERP and track the rest of the business on spreadsheets. Remanufacturing uses raw materials, cores (used transmissions and parts), and new parts, making inventory and production tracking very difficult. TAS was designed as an integrated solution connecting all aspects of the business within a single system.
Process & Approach
Industry & Workflow Research
Studied the remanufacturing process end-to-end and interviewed remanufacturers and service center operators.
Integrated System Architecture
Designed the information architecture connecting all modules without duplication.
Unit-Level Cost Tracking
Built real-time cost tracking at the unit level for profitability visibility.
Retail Service Extension
Extended the platform to retail service centers with integrations to CARFAX, Transtar, and QuickBooks Online.
Outcomes & Impact
1
Single system replacing fragmented, manual, process-heavy operations
3
External integrations: CARFAX, Transtar, QuickBooks Online
Real-time $
Unit-level cost tracking from acquisition through sale
Transmission Automated Solutions (TAS) successfully transformed the transmission remanufacturing industry by replacing fragmented, manual processes and spreadsheet-driven decision-making with the first comprehensive, purpose-built platform connecting the entire operation. Developed alongside transmission remanufacturers, TAS brought real-time visibility and automation to core management, parts and inventory, production, cost tracking, warranty management, testing, wholesale ordering, and retail service—creating a single source of truth across the business. Rather than simply digitizing existing processes, TAS fundamentally changed how transmission businesses could operate: teams gained the ability to understand the true cost and profitability of every unit, automate purchasing and repetitive tasks, identify operational problems earlier, improve accountability, and make faster, data-driven decisions. By connecting remanufacturing and retail workflows into one integrated ecosystem, TAS helped businesses reduce inefficiency, control costs, improve consistency, scale operations, and deliver a better customer experience.
The result was more than a software product—it was a new operational model for an industry that had historically lacked a purpose-built, end-to-end technology solution. Established in 2021, TAS has emerged as an industry-leading platform and earned international recognition by being included in the IDC MarketScape Worldwide Remanufacturing Management Software 2024–2025 Vendor Assessment. By turning decades of industry knowledge into an integrated digital workflow, TAS gave transmission businesses the visibility, automation, and intelligence needed to move from reactive management to profitable, scalable operations.
